The Morning Rush: How does your family get out the door on time?
- How about setting your kids CD alarm clock with their favorite music to get them going? Move it with them into the bathroom and then the kitchen for breakfast. How about a different tune for each task?
- Always have the clothes ready for the day and the back-pack by the front door.
- Keep an alarm clock in the kitchen and when it goes off, set the 10-minute snooze alarm so everyone knows they leave in just 10 more minutes. Stop the nagging!
Meal-time Decisions: When school is in session, we are faced as families with going in many different directions at meal time while still trying to make healthy choices. Here are some fast-food tips:
- Resist combination for "value size" meals
- Skip the mayonnaise and go for the light dressings
- Avoid double burgers and sandwiches with bacon
- Drink only water or low-fat milk
- Order healthy side dishes or, best yet, bring your own bag of apples, grapes or bananas
