Immunization Updates

The meningococcal vaccine, Menactra, remains in good enough supply for us to continue to immunize everyone above age 11.  Since this is a conjugate vaccine, there will be no need to repeat it at colleage age.

The HPV (human papilloma virus) vaccine has been well received by our parent/teen population.  Please remember that this vaccine is a series of three (3) doses, received over a minimum-spacing schedule: the first dose; then the second dose two months later; and finally the third dose six months after the first dose.  We strongly encourage you to schedule your next dose as you check-out of our office.

The varicella (chicken-pox) vaccine is routinely given at age 12-months with a booster now recommended beginning at age 4 years.  Because of a vaccine shortage due to this new policy, we will be using our current supply for the one-year olds and will provide "catch-up" doses as soon as the additional supply is available.
